In all honesty, this book was a tough one to get through, but, I think the third act so to speak made the whole book a bit better. The first section was slightly interesting. Introducing our main character Riley and her men: Miles, Fox, Levi and Thane. At first, I thought it was going to be another story of an omega trying to hide her designation until her heat comes on suddenly and a pack conveniently swoops in to save her. This was slightly different because it’s revealed she has this omega specific disease that is fatal. Which makes it complicated with her to form bonds with the men. The second chunk of the book was where it lost me. It felt kind of insta-lusty especially with Miles and Fox. I also felt that Levi BARELY got any screen time in terms of bonding with Riley but all of a sudden he’s in love with her and on board with making her their omega. Thane took the longest to come around but there was one scene I felt came out of nowhere. The book started getting more interesting again when it came to her getting treated for this disease. It wasn’t one of those cases where it was like “omg there is this medicine and voilà you’re magically cured and can live happily ever after!” I liked that there was a lengthy process to the treatment and recovery and through that they bonded more as a family. It was very cute how much the men would take care of her throughout her sickness. Overall, it was an okay read. Oh! And my favorite guy was Thane even though he was so freaking stubborn and unnecessarily mean sometimes.

This was a great addition to the OV genre. Riley and the Alphas were all wonderful characters and the story line really pulled on my heartstrings. Riley is completely hesitant to find a pack and has prepared herself for a lonely life. Her reasons for this are 100% understandable and a little heartbreaking. Then she stumbled into the Woods pack. Miles is this dreamy, protective alpha that has 0 doubts about what he wants. Fox is the silly, hot alpha that decides pretty fast that his life has been incomplete. Levi is the voice of reason who tries to move them in the right direction. Then there's Thane, the lead alpha who has this deep seated fear he refuses to recognize. And they are all perfect for each other. This book made me teary eyed and brought me smiles. It was steamy and ultimately just really romantic. Do yourself a favor and pick up this sweet story!

incredible

I laughed, I cried. I was so taken off guard with how deeply I fell in love with these characters and their relationships. This is the first OV I’ve read where there’s a real sickness (other than just saying omegas get sick, or the population is decreasing) and it felt so much easier to relate to a lot of the feelings and problems everyone is experiencing. 22/10, highly recommend.

I received an ARC and I willingly leave a review with my own opinion.

I find reading this book that I don't like reading about MCs that are writers. So except for that, I really enjoyed this take on Omegaverse. It's not often there'a a disease that plauges the Omegas. I liked all of the characters, and it wasn't insta-love as in 'I love you' but that they where attracted to each other. I liked that.

I did cry reading this book, I'm excited to see what happens in the next book!

Just for a change I would like the Alpha and Omegas be opposite, that there isn't enough Alphas for the Omegas and there for there's chaos in a way. Alphas can be rare too I believe.

Like, a little more than 50% was all I could take.

I gave it the benefit of the doubt a couple of times and then it just hit this point in the story where I realized, ohmygosh. This is actually horse manure.

Meh.

That's how I feel about this book. The first 10% was very cringe for me based on Riley's reaction to everything that happened when the cops came. What a way to announce yourself by running. Yeah, she was scared and running definitely didn't make it easier for cops to notice you. Question: why were they chasing her anyways? She could've been just anyone to them and they didn't know she was an omega until they got into the alleyway.

After the 10% everything just went by. Fast. I felt like we barely got any time to connect with any of the characters. I wish books would show more instances of interactions with each other, other than just sex. There is more to life than just thinking about banging anything that moves. And it seems about 50% in everyone has a personality change. A 180 degree change from what was supposed to be interpreted from either word of mouth or from the first meeting. If a character is meant to be portrayed as stoic and headstrong in the first meeting but is literally the complete opposite the rest of the book. And the golden retriever boy in the first meeting is suddenly this big hotshot the rest of the book, then what is the point?

I did find the fact Riley being an authour portrayed...weirdly if that makes sense. I'm not trying to be mean or rude but everytime it is discusses her book or writing I felt like there was this strange inception feeling in the book. It was weird for me to read. I'm not even sure how to describe it. In the past I've read many other books where the MC is a reader or a writer and it never bothered me but this one did and I can't explain why.

I made it 84% of the way before I just had to stop. We finally get to the part where they bond
Spoilerthat scene came out of left field with all the guys going at it. I'm normally fine with MM reading but with Thane, especially knowing that he never did that, is wild to me. The bonding scene was anticlimactic as well
and its only 84% of the way. I know, if I'd wanted to know what the last 16% of the book was then I would just read it but I can't think of anything other than Riley's parents or their friend shows up, or she magically gets a cure
Spoilerwhich seems to be the case from the reviews I've read
and they all live happily ever after. There just isn't enough conflict in this book to keep me engaged.

P.S. Whenever 'slick' (bleh) is mentioned I keep imagining a waterfall because it seems like she is leaking everywhere. I just imagine Niagara down there. It doesn't sound healthy.

This book was so exciting at the beginning
But unfortunately kinda fell

The characters were all flat. I felt like I didn’t really know them at all.

Also the transitions were rough
I had to always flip back to see if I missed something

Overall it wasn’t bad. I just missed a connection
