it’s like reading the bible with far far worse writing, a poorly handled plot, awful, flat characters, and ten times the amount of fallacies. i may not be christian but damn at least the bible is a good read with some banger quotes
Moderate: Racism and Sexism
don’t exactly know how to tag this but there were several parts that had that air of the kind of spiritual person who believes poor people would stop being poor if they just wanted to hard enough, ppl with cancer would stop having cancer if they stopped thinking negatively, etc and it left a really bad taste in my mouth (for reference i am spiritual and have no qualms with manifestation but this is an extreme that i believe is harmful and small-minded and unnervingly prevalent in self-help like the alchemist)libraryfrog's review against another edition

It was difficult to follow, and the main characters having no names did not help matters. The boy isn't a particularly lovable main character, and he's naive enough that it stops being a good thing and becomes a slog. For such a short book with so much travel, nothing really happens. The boy learns a lot of things, but I felt like I was missing half of the story.
