Gentle, wholesome, well done. Predictable, simple, acceptance, humanity. The art is very nice. I would love a more complex interlocking story.

This is such a beautifully illustrated book that go along with such charming stories. Grampa was definitely my favorite character. He’s so sweet and funny! Just want to give him the biggest hug for taking such great care of his Yu’er and their friends. The print is tiny to read so I recommend having a magnifying glass to help. Definitely want to buy my own copy in the future.

This book was really sweet. I wish I could’ve read it in its original language, not a translation. But still, the art spoke for itself. The imaginative world of Yuer and Grampa was a delight - like a cool swim on a summer day. The art reminded me a bit of Studio Ghibli in the way where everything seems a little old fashioned, but there are modern elements worked in so you never really know what time period you’re in. I particularly loved the splash page in “Bug Paradise” and the color palette throughout was so pleasing and peaceful. This also reminded me a bit of the Eloise books, especially the first story about swimming. Overall, a really sweet read!
THAT WAS SO CUTE. i love how subtle the art style is, with simple watercolour illustrations that seems fresh and bright, but the story contains a lot of emotional and deep layers, and plays with our imagination and maybe, if you read it, your heart will melt too.
the story is written so beautifully, the illustrations are absolutely stunning and heartwarming. it totally reminds me that magic is possible and to never put the limit on dreams. LOVE IT.
J’ai pris *Les Contes de la ruelle* de Nie Jun un peu au hasard à la médiathèque, et ça a été une très belle surprise. Les histoires sont pleines de charme et de douceur, les dessins sont super agréables. J’ai passé un très bon moment avec ce livre. Un vrai plaisir, pour petits et grands !
