Unique and adorable artstyle!!! This graphic novel had four different stories focusing on the same group of characters. Full of soul, love, and warmth, this was a lovely read about family and friendship.
Beautifully colored and illustrated, this was a wholesome read that shared culture, mundane magic, and the wonder of childhood. I also adored the relationship between Yu'er and her grandfather, it made me nostalgic of my own youth and times spent with my grandparents.
My Beijing has five different stories about Yu'er and her grampa. Yu'er has disabilities but that didn't stop her from dream big and being kind to people around her, that's what I like the most. If I must choose which story I love from the book, it would be the bug paradise one!
These were 4 cute and wholesome stories. Very short. Enjoyed the magic realism aspect to it.
