I liked it, I didn't love it. It was an easy, fast-paced read, and I can see why it's a gateway thriller for many casual readers. That said, there were moments that felt surprisingly novice- especially considering how many books Freida McFadden has written and the popularity of this one. The writing was simple, soemtimes to a fault.

One plus: I didn't immediately guess every twist. But, despite having potential, the story lacked the suspense I was hoping for. I could set it down without much urgency to pick it back up. That "cant stop turning pages" feeling just wasnt there for me.

Character-wise, Nina was insufferable (by deisng), and her daughter... I'm still trying to figure out the point of her character beyond being obnoxious. This point seemed like a hole in the plotline. Some of the dialogue and inner monologue becmae repetitive, and there were phrases and buzzwords the author leaned on too heavily.

Overall, not a bad read- but a bit underwhelming, and probably not something I'll remember in the long run.

So slow. So boring. Repetitive writing style.

Honestly, don't get the hype for this book. Predictable and the characters were surface level at best.
