This series is just really fantastic. And this one in particular... such fascinating, complicated characters. Sarah, Jax... but most of all, Sarah's father. I was honestly riveted.

Unlike the previous books in the series, I didn't guess who the bad guy was, and to be honest, it felt like that was the weakest part of the story - it relied so heavily on coincidence that it stretched my suspension of disbelief. So I'll take a half star off for that.

But the book is well worth the read just for these characters. So great.

****4.5****

Shattered is a cut above the first two books in the LOST series. Sarah Jacobs is a member of the LOST team. Her speciality is criminal profiling. In a previous case for LOST, Sarah met Jax Fontaine, a dangerous man who seems to run the darker side of New Orleans, but against her better judgement, Sarah is attracted to him. When a serial killer targets Sarah, she finds herself having to confront her past which includes her father, a convicted serial killer, and even though it may not be a coincidence that Jax crossed Sarah's path, she can't seem to fight their explosive chemistry.
There are several twists and turns in this book that raise the level of excitement and interest, making it more than an average romantic suspense with a serial killer theme. A good read.

A romance I was looking forward to with the mysterious Sarah !

I must admit that I was very curious to see what the book would be with Sarah who is a rather mysterious character who keeps her distance well (and given her story we can understand it !) and the plot was exciting ! I had some doubts about Jax (too "thug" and the fact that he's Emma's ex and that in the previous book, he didn't seem to have recovered from their separation ...) but in the end, I liked him (he's a much more complex character than I expected !)

THIS END with the little hummed song ... SO CREEPY ><

In short, a book with a sexy romance and an exciting plot perfect for entertainment

PS: I admit oddly I really liked Sarah's father ><

I was so looking forward to reading this book but somehow for me it didn't quite live up to the rest of the series or my expectations. However I'm still looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Oh, I loved this one! Part psychological thriller, part mystery, part romance…three wonderfully intriguing ingredients that only Cynthia Eden can make into the perfect brew. I didn’t want to stop once I started.

As we’ve seen in the prior stories, Dr. Sarah Jacobs is a criminal psychologist who profiles killers. She can get into their heads, figure out who they are, what their motives are, and where they might go next. She can connect with them, understand them, think like them. And she can because of her past…because of her father. As chilling as it is to be as good as she is, there’s a hidden part of her that worries she’s also a monster. That he trained her to be just like him. And this time, the killer is coming after her. Dredging up old memories and stirring up her mental well-being, this race against time will tear her apart.

“She was drawing him in, pulling him deeper and deeper into her web. The connection between them–it was more than just her desire for danger. More than his desire to be with a woman who fucking understood the sins he carried. It was. . . elemental. Instinctive.”

Jax Fontaine doesn’t have the best reputation. Sure, he’s rich and he seems to always slip through the hands of the local law enforcement, but he’s earned his status for the things he’s done to get to where he is. He may not have clean hands, but the moment he met Sarah, he didn’t care. He could see something within her matched something deep within him. Their hidden connection sparked an instant inferno that drew them both to the flame. Passion and heat singed them together. But it’s not just their shared darkness that connects them…no, someone is after both of them.

“Hush little baby, don’t say a word. . .”

I’m not quite sure why, but the suspense in this one was more fantastic than what I’m used to with Ms. Eden. It ensnared me and I couldn’t stop my eyes from jumping ahead. The twists and turns were never-ending, switching and morphing back and forth. I felt the romance was just a bonus to the mystery, and I believe that was on purpose. When the story starts, one instantly believes their connection and lust, so it honestly wasn’t needed to go any further with their lead-up and it didn’t because she knew you were already in. Their passion was instant, believable, and it went straight into the mystery, flawlessly. Just, Wham Bam Someone’s Out To Kill Me Ma’am. Suspense is really Ms. Eden’s forte (along with paranormal) and she nailed it again. The chills, the psychological depth, the clever storyline…just amazing.

Wow!! Really loved this story, I was hooked from the very start and tried to keep reading even as my eyes started to droop and sleep over took me. Unfortunately the sleep won in the end but as soon as I woke, I reached for my kindle and spent the next 2 hours sucked in to a story, in which I had no clue who the killer was and whether Sarah, Jax and the Lost team would even survive the hunt. Which although extremely frustrating (Being certain I knew who the killer was, only to be proved completely wrong!) it's also the thing I love most about Cynthia Eden and her stories and I really can't wait to get my hands on book 4, just wish it was going to be much sooner than next year, although it does give me a chance to reread them all again, so I can't complain too much!!!

As for this one, I would happily recommend it to everyone as you really won't be disappointed especially if you, like me love your suspense, full of twists, turns, big surprises and even bigger shocks.

This is the third book of the LOST series by Eden.but it the second book for me . Kept me hooked from start till end. The romance is scintillating and the plot is brilliant . Eden takes us through lots of hair pin bends and when the final 'villaim' comes to light , it's a shock.

Sarah Jacobs ❤️ Jax Fontaine ! Every scene between them is hot and sensual. Sarah is the target of a killer who wants his victims to beg for death ! Jax shields Sarah, and he is on the hit list now !

Meanwhile , Jax wants to find out about his ORIGINAL family ( he was brought up by Fontaine and Charlene) and seeks the help of LOST.
Both Sarah and Jax have dark past and this brings them together further.

Will Jax save Sarah?

Shady underworld figure protects criminal psychologist from a deranged killer. Darkest book in the series by far. The suspense is twisty, adrenaline-filled and tad disturbing but is paced well. She has a horrifying past - despite this, she's kind, compassionate, and uses her brilliant mind to hunt for monsters. He's complicated, possessive and super alpha, but surprisingly shows a sweet side when it comes to her.

Their attraction stemmed from the last book, and the connection here between them is strong and well-explored. There's a dark edge in their romance because of the past, but they trust and are their true selves to each other. Some good steam in their romance, too!
