Hierarchy at the End of the World
This story was a unique deep dive into human behavior and psychology. The statement it ends up making, which is of course that humans cannot coexist without some system of control in place, is as old as time itself but the journey the characters take you on makes getting there fresh and new. Knowledge is power in this world of artificial light and Howey does a stellar job of pulling back the curtain piece by piece. Once the final picture is revealed, you’ll kick yourself for not seeing it sooner, which is testament to the craftsmanship of this author’s world-building technique. This universe has the potential to be quite vast despite the limiting space of the Silo itself which again showcases Howey’s forethought and skill.

so tense! i had to take breaks to let myself calm down. incredibly engaging with beautiful world building, i can only hope the next book is just as good
// looking at reviews it seems that they are not and i am trusting that and leaving the silo story to end here on a hopeful note

Super interesting concept, I am looking forward to reading the prequel. There were parts where I tired of the detailed descriptions of mechanical workings and trudging up and down stairs, but the details also made the setting vivid.

This was such an enjoyable read. The vibes were hunger games. After reading a few intellectual books it was nice to read a v plot driven book - but felt like the world was really well described and interesting
