Really enjoyed this new recording of the audiobook. Unlike when I listened to this nearly a decade ago, and liked it OK, I'm actually looking forward to getting to the sequels.

Wow! Huge fan. Stunningly smart and inspired writing. It’s really something to behold the author’s ability to describe things in concentrated detail to such an efficient degree that you always know your surroundings aa tge reader and how tge characters move and engage with space/place. I enjoy guessing ahead and usually get it right. Another aspect that I loved were the plentiful opportunities to feel just as unsure of the future as the characters, guess what was coming next to find satisfying nuance. Big fan.

Even though I never read this at the time, this transported me back to the 2010s dystopia craze, and would recommend to anyone who enjoys dystopia. Howey creates a beautifully spun tale, with some super tense scenes and breathtaking twists, yet driven by simple human emotions and determination. He's not afraid to delve into POVs of those on opposing 'sides', and I especially enjoyed the story titles with their knitting metaphors and the strong character of Juliette. Manages to be depressing and yet uplifting simultaneously.

I rarely read books that are over 300 pages, but this book drew me in at the first sentence and kept me interested down to the last sentence of the last page! I thoroughly enjoyed the plot, and the writing style is pretty good too.

I would recommend this to those of you who like sci-fis that aren't heavy handed with technical jargon and dystopians that aren't horrendously dark/graphic.
