This book is what you get if you take Hogwarts, Team Rocket, Avatar the Last Air Bender, and zombie unicorns and blend until combined. While the first two chapters were slow, I found I couldn’t put it down after that. There are so many plot twists and such rich character development. With the promise of more to, Skandar and the Unicorn Thief has earned a permanent spot in my classroom library. This book, while featuring a character that has on-screen panic attacks, bigotry, imperfect parents, a close look at grief, and some death/injury, none of it is excessive. This book is appropriate for anyone in middle school.apierlessbridge's review against another edition

It’s a book full of inspiring friendships and self-love and it’s packed with adventure and great twists too.
I am not the intended audience for this book, but it was a lot of fun and I know I would have been absolutely obsessed with this book when I was younger.

I might consider giving this book another go once the sequel is released, but at the moment something just didn’t quite click with me.

Unicorns eat meat, often graphic details of blood.
