I don't know, for some reason Kid Gloves didn't resonate as much with me as the first Lucy Knisley graphic novel I read, Something New: Tales from a Makeshift Bride. Maybe the experiences were too foreign to me and I'll feel differently once I have a kid. I also didn't love the mid-chapters about pregnancy and birth information, since I think I already knew 90% of it. I was interested in hearing more of her feelings (and her husband's, who I know didn't want kids as of the start of Something New) and less about the medicine behind childbirth.

I still enjoyed Knisley's poignant and heartfelt drawings, and I did cry a lot at the end of the book (
during the author's traumatic medical experience with eclampsia
), but I think that was more out of terror than anything.

A beautifully created memoir. Occasionally sad, often funny, always informative, this book portrays conception and pregnancy with realism and attention to detail that's often lacking.

Amazing and excellent but graphic in the omg that is disgusting (vomit, so much vomit) and horrible (eclampsia near death experience) sense of the word as well as being a graphic novel.
