Feels like every idea that popped into Rice’s head made it into the final draft. Framing narrative is very weak but the flashbacks are quite good.

I enjoyed it but the cast of characters is immense and it drags on a little bit at times. Essentially just Lestat running off with Akasha (a radical feminist) and killing all men while the vampire avengers assemble in the background. The movie is horribly inaccurate btw but Aaliyah killed it.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get into it. The sheer amount of new characters was making my head hurt. So many subplots that it was difficult to follow the story. I used to enjoy the movie when I was a child, until I was told that it had barely anything to do with the book. So, I read the book and thought the movie might actually be an improvement. I know Rice is a great author and I'll keep reading her works, but this is not a book I would recommend.
