so good!! anne rice has yet to do me wrong. I really liked the change in story telling from IwtV to Vampire Lestat to this book. The multiple perspectives make for a really enthralling read and the culmination of everything is incredible.

this book was very lore heavy- which i liked!! the tale of the twins and the origin of vampires was interesting to read about. akasha and lestat… not so much. i just couldn’t bring myself to care about them, akasha is boring!! coincidentally i watched the movie sunset boulevard while reading this book, and the character norma desmond flipped a switch within me with my interpretation of akasha- both of them queens of yesteryears who think the world of themselves despite their irrelevance in the modern day, and who long for their return  into the adoring spotlight. idk, but it made the book more fun when i started reading akasha’s dialogue with miss desmond’s dramatic voice.

Anne Rice has no right being as good as she is. There is something really special about her and this book might actually be my favorite so far of the series. Maybe she just hits a part of my soul in a way I can't explain....or maybe Lestat is just the best character of all time. Her characters have such nuance, but it feels like she writes it so effortless. Sometimes I don't even understand her characters, because nothing is black and white. Plus her prose is unmatched.

Anyways gonna start reviewing books more!

Devil’s Minion chapter is the best thing about this book, there are some other stand out chapters but for the most part I found it to be far too slow burn for my taste. Very exposition heavy, which I was not expecting. Still a fun read though, just be ready for information overload!
