The rest of the book could’ve been incoherent and I would still say 5 stars for the devil’s minion chapter alone
Definitely my favorite Vampire Chronicles book so far!! Changing between povs prevented any one plotline or segment from dragging out, which was definitely an issue I had with the first two books. It was also a really good way to introduce new characters, and the way all the characters and plot threads came together was really good. The worldbuilding felt much more natural than in The Vampire Lestat, being weaved through the whole book and also being part of a mystery. Genuinely enjoyed this book in a way I can’t say I did with the first two. Also Lestat pov will always be the most bizarre reading experience ever. 10/10 I can’t wait for the series to go downhill from here

Okay--I will admit it, I am a closet Anne Rice fan. I think this one is my favorite of the Vampire Chronicles. I love the background story and the history of the vampires, and love the idea of living for thousands of years, watching things change. You cannot, however, prove that I have a crush on Lestat. So there.

Probably my least favorite thing Anne has ever written. An absolute snooze and a slog with too many POV's that takes 500 years to get to the point. And you know what babes? In the year 2025 show me where, how, and at what time Akasha was wrong? She beheld 6,000 years of human suffering and call me a misandrist all you want to...homie came to correct conclusions. Argue with God. Argue with your mama. Justice for Akasha.
More of an adventure plot than the last ones which was fun. Devil's minion was great and I still love Lestat.
