Absolute mess. Not EVERY fucking character needs to stop the story for a monologue anvil about their life story.

The expansion of the world 🤩🤩🤩 i just love vampires so much

I get now why Lestat becomes a rock star, I guess it was just the "AND SUDDENLY!" shift that came so jarringly and I guess I understand why specifically a rock STAR and not a rock MUSICIAN given Lestat's love of being an actor and sort of assuming the 'role' of it. I get it NOW.

Um...that's about all else I have to say vis a vis that. I just...sigh. I don't know. It wasn't bad strictly but on the other hand I didn't come away thinking it was an amazing book. I don't have a problem with vampires as a concept and if they're done right but it was just so jumpy. I do appreciate her coming at the concert at the end of "The Vampire Lestat" from different angles and how it went wrong and the before and after; there were just so many characters to follow and so many names to remember, I found it hard telling who was who. It doesn't help everybody is described so similarly.

Also, Anne: I get it. Your husband is a poet. You didn't need to put excerpts of his poetry in the beginning of each section! And JUST his poetry, not a few song lyrics from other people, just him.

u srsly?
Seriously. I got the picture. JEEZ.

This book is terrible. It really is. It is only worth the continuity. Otherwise, it's no fun at all.

The first half of this book is a solid 5 out of 5. The Devil's Minion and Jesse/Talamasca chapters, the lead up to the concert etc are literary perfection. Seeing into Armand and Daniels insanity, Claudia's ghost, Jesse's discovery of vampires... amazing.

The rest of the book was a bit of a slog.. a soft 3 out of 3. I love Lestat, but I found the sections with Maheret to be quite bumbling, and Akasha somehow manages to be the worst misandrist known to literature. How can you make man hating so boring and flat?

this is the best book so far imo. LOVE Armand and Daniel
