This series is slowly but surely becoming a new favorite. I am loving it more and more with each books I read.
It has one of the best lore I’ve read in a really long time. Especially in Queen of the Damned. I love the attention to details, and all the precisions that makes the world so immersive. Each character have their story detailed to the roots, and it is captivating. Well, it was a little tedious to follow everything at some point, and I still have no clue why some characters were here at all, but it is what truly makes this story and characters amazing.

Would have been nice if anyone did anything. Devil's Minion chapter slaps, though.

My problem with the vampire chronicles and why I have yet to continue on from this book is that the book that I am reading and the book Anne Rice thought she was writing are two very different things. Not a bad book, not a good book, but some secret third thing.

All rihgt, I am officially retiring this series. I love the world created and I really enjoyed parts of this but it is too long and way too descriptive where it doesn't need to be. The plot continuously got lost in the muck.
The narrator for the audiobook did an okay job for parts but he did not change his voice or speech patterns enough to easily decipher the POV happening. So when the description got long-winded I would tune out a bit but then be lost when I refocused because we'd be on a new character with no real warning. A solid pause and notice in POV change can be a good thing!
This bounced from being lighter than the previous books to a bit heavier. But overall, if oddly felt less dark. Maybe because much of it takes place in a more modern time period. Still all historical settings by current time stamp though.
