I like the story and the characters... With the exception of the titular queen. She's all over the board; abusive, arrogant, randomly man hating out of nowhere (the story does try to explain this logic on her behalf but it felt very out of left field to me), in short a mess

Will likely come back to it at some point. Just not the right time for me.

If you saw the movie and didn't like it, have no fear, the movies shared very little with the novel.

I loved it! I'm a sucker for a lot of devices that this book happens to use (multiple POVs, flashbacks, etc), so that's already given it a huge advantage for me. In this book, we find out the origin of vampires, meet "the twins" and learn a new aspect of the mythology, reunite with Louis again, and continue to fall for Lestat - the brat prince who just cannot help but attract dangerous attention and affections.

Really the only part I did t care for were Daniel's poi ts of view. That character does not grab me.

If you enjoyed the first two in the series, you'll love this one. If you didn't, why are you reading the 3rd installment?

You mean to tell me that the first 225 pages of this book take place before the ending of the last one??? And these pages have seemingly no bearing on the story except to establish that everybody is dreaming about two redheads? Then we finally get back to Lestat where the last book left off, which was seemingly at the start of a massive climax, and all the energy is just gone??? And the book thinks I’ll read it????

Edit: Ok, I did come back and finish this book, and I have to say, what a letdown. While the first two were so gothic, emo, spooky, and engaging, this one felt like a cheap avengers movie, with a “look, the whole gang is together” energy. A real drag to get through, even though it has some fun things to say (like, “kill all men” is FUN). idk if I’ll continue with this series beyond this.
