This is my first time reading bell hooks outside of shorter assigned readings in school, and I was really struck by how clearly and decisively she writes, and her commitment to naming the structures she describes, inhabits, and resists. A thoroughly enjoyable read that I will hopefully enjoy reflecting on for many years of teaching. My only regret is that when this book was lent to me I didn’t know it is the third in a series so i feel like I would definitely benefit from reading the first two volumes for more foundational information

I want to be a progressive educator that bell hooks writes about. I am working on becoming an English teacher, and I would be so happy if I could help students on there journey to become self-reflective critical thinkers.
She illustrates the value of critical thinking and educators in Teaching Critical Thinking: Practical Wisdom. I am glad that I had already heard most of the ideas from this book. That means these ideas are well known among educators that I have encountered.
