Misery nos cuenta la historia de Paul Sheldon, un autor prolífico que acaba de sacar la ultima novela de su saga donde mata a su personaje principal (Misery) para poder dedicarse a escribir sobre otras cosas. 

La historia inicia con Paul teniendo un accidente automovilístico bastante grave, donde su carro termina volcado en el bosque nevado en pleno invierno.  Ahí es donde es encontrado por su fan #1 y su pesadilla apenas comienza.
 
Es increíble la manera de Stephen King para crear a un personaje al que odias tanto pero al mismo tiempo puedes lograr a sentir compasión. Motivo por el cual  Annie Wilkes es y seguirá siendo uno de los villanos más aterradores de todos los tiempos, que nos enseña que los monstruos no tienen que ser como los pintan en las películas de terror, con cuernos, garras y ojos rojos.

This was my first Stephen King book, and it made me a lifetime fan. This book was so suspenseful that I was glued to it. I started reading it in study hall during my senior year and study hall quickly became “Misery” time. I LOVE this book. The antagonist is so twisted, this book will have you cringing in your seat. And the protagonist will have your heart racing and yelling “GO GO GO!”

Wow. I've read a lot of Stephen king and this is definitely my favourite. Only King could make a book about a bedbound man and a deranged woman into a masterpiece novel you never want to put down. I savoured every sentence on every page and never wanted it to end. Great way to start the year!
