This book had such potential and was such a cool premise but it fell short in a couple areas for me.

It focused so hard on the gore of it all that the really interesting psychological aspects were buried. I was expected to take a lot on faith as a reader, which fine, but then the main character doesn’t even trust that the virus is real.

I needed the book to be from any other characters perspective. She took the most boring character in a cast of very interesting characters.

The story felt weirdly stilted. We got huge internal dialogue pieces and then the ending is so rushed. It felt very off.

The premise was good and I wanted to love this book but it just was not what I wanted it to be.

It offered a very weak/not  plausible explanation to justify why the world became okay with farming humans for human consumption… so it was like “let’s patch that massive hole with some masking tape so that we can get to squirm with horror just for the sake of doing so”.

This book feels like it wants to make a statement, but ultimately it's just filled with shock-factory bits so predictable that you could accurately guess what was happening next for the entirety of the book. None of the points of the book were really anything you haven't heard a million times over, and at no point was I left wondering what would happen next, so it didn't even have that going for it. Overall, the book was just predictable and cruel for the sake of cruelty.

This was a difficult read but it kept my interest. The premise and world building are good. Ending felt kind of abrupt but I suppose that's intentional.

This book is fucked up and I couldn’t put it down.
It’s kinda slow and kinda gross in the beginning but picks up. Don’t eat while reading or listening to it
