I devoured this. Expertly paced, deliciously written. Features a non-linear timeline which worked SO well, I think I’m fast becoming a V E Schwab stan.
Eli is the WORST, and so is Serena. Victor is morally grey for sure, but I’m low key obsessed with him and I think that’s helped by me picturing him as blonde Nicholas Hoult - reading this at a time when blonde Nicholas Hoult was doing a hilarious (and hot) press tour for Superman👌.

you know a book is good when you buy the sequel halfway through it (i’m so glad i did) (v.e. schwab i’m obsessed with your writing)

Vicious lives up to its name and tells a story of vicious boys who grow up to be vicious men. It shows two bright college students becoming curious in superpowers and the process to develop them, and then turning into lunatics who won’t stop to kill each other. This revenge story was pretty dark but the writing and likable side characters relieved the tension when it was needed and kept things from getting too heavy. It definitely felt like it’s just the beginning of a story, like the first season of a tv show, but the momentum never stopped and stayed full blast until the last pages.
