This wasn't what I expected, but it was okay. I think it was really well-written and the world-building was intriguing (if a bit much, I don't know how much detail I needed on every sailing trip that was taken and which islands were passed etc), but I found it to be quite slow and I don't know how much I cared for Ged. Vetch and Jasper were more interesting characters to me where Ged felt a bit...vapid and surface-level where I would have liked to read more about Vetch and Jasper. But I guess it was interesting to read Ged's character journey throughout the book.

Wow!! Would recommend to anyone. I’ve read Le Guin’s adult novels before and was pleased to find this held up next to them. Not 5 stars as it felt slightly repetitive towards the end, but there are so many little bits of this that make up such a good whole.

Read it as an adult, but I wish I read it as a kid.
