I love Jane, I really wanted to love this book. But I found it painful to read in a lot of parts. There was so much disability inspiration porn, elements of white saviourism and it felt like it lacked an intersectional lens. It was something I would have probably lapped up 10 years ago but it didn’t feel like it hit the mark in 2022.

There are a few truly inspirational people that when they speak the world listens. Jane Goodall is one of them. Her gifts of insight on the subject of hope in our very trying times will encourage you and give much to think about and share.
Read this book… and do it soon.

5 stars for the book, but 3 stars for the audiobook - it was read as a conversation between the authors, and I loved listening to Jane read her thoughts. But it needed to be adapted a bit more for the audiobook. The attribution words (like "Jane said," "Jane laughed,") were SO intrusive and annoying.

Jane Goodall has been one of those people who I’ve always seen and admired for her work with/for animals and as a naturalist. Listening to her tell of her adventures, tragedies, successes, and life was wonderful. She is passionate while being encouraging. She teaches while also learning. She listens while also communicating. She is full of hope and has me more encouraged and hopeful about our future.
