This is just not for me. The descriptions of the mechanical animals was too much. It seems I'm not just sensitive to the pain of living animals but also mechanical animals with AI chips as well.

I was given ‘Allowing the night’ as an ARC for an honest review, this LGBT book was super cute and an enjoyable read.
I’d have liked a little more world building, character description and more on the growing trust and relationship between characters.

This was fairly well written although the dialogue was a little over the top, dramatic and unrealistic at times.
Written in dual POV which flits back and forth very quickly, which I found a little annoying. This was very effective at building tension in certain scenes though.

Set in a futuristic world where there are few humans still surviving and a lot of murderous creatures hiding in the shadows.
A man and his little rescue dog dwell in a ramshackle van, trading tailoring services for food and wares with his neighbouring humans.
Caught out in the twilight while scavenging he is stuck in the middle of a fay packs hunt, saved by one of the very creatures he fears.
Before realising the other man was saving him and not killing him, he knocks him out and runs home. But the injured fay is forced to follow, having no choice but to hide under the humans van…
From here they have to figure out where they stand, their feelings, and figure out what to do next. Defending each other from their opposing people and deciding their future. Just trying to survive in a ruined world.

Very pretty cover and embellishments inside as well, with a map at the beginning.
This was a very cute story, with some interesting ideas and descriptions, I would have liked a little more to it, but it was still a pleasant M/M read.
