Perfect Chemistry

3.83 AVERAGE

Intense and fast moving read, but the ending was wrapped up just a little too perfectly.

Probably a 3.5 but I'm feeling generous. Pretty cliche, pretty cute. An altogether nice holiday read!

Lots of cringe, totally unrealistic, but entertaining and has some depth. I loved this book as a 12 year old, and it’s still good now, considering I’m much much older.

It's fair to say that I devoured this book. In like 4 hours. When I should have been sleeping. On a Saturday night.

That being said, the writing wasn't impressive and the storyline juxtapositions really frustrated me.

That being said I was rooting for all the characters, though it was obvious who was going to get hurt/die/end up together.

Still, need a compelling book? This was addictive!

Not sure about this one. I kind of liked it, but hated all the language. I know he was in a gang, so I guess the book needed it, but for some reason it bothered me. I am not sure if I want to read the next two in the series.

So, this is one of those books I've seen around at Barnes and Noble almost every time I go there for the past 8 years now and the cover never once ended up getting me to pick up the book and even find out what it was about. I'm entirely unsure why I even ended up grabbing the audiobook when I was at the library last week but I finally picked this book up and busted through it. It's good. I liked the characters and cared where they ended up...but something at the back of my head kept getting under my skin just a little: it feels like Katie McGarry used this book as a bible when creating the characters and backstories for her novels. It could simply be because I just read most of Katie's bibliography recently, but it definitely started to get to a weird point where I was like, "Okay, so Alex is the badboy biker who is in a gang. I can see Noah, Isaiah, Oz, and Razor coming from that. Brittany is the goody-two-shoes with the strict parents and this perfect girl image she has to keep up so she doesn't disappoint her parents. I can see Echo, Rachel, and Breanna coming from that." It was just a little strange. I realize Katie's books came out after this book did but I prefer Katie's writing and characters a whole lot more. I'm definitely not crying plagiarism here, but I think if a writer can take similar base ideas and do them better than another author then...? I don't know where I'm headed with this rant. Uh...read the Pushing the Limits and Thunder Road books before you read this, that's my recommendation.

Devoured this book in a day.
It was fast paced and fun.

2.5! Easy to read, enjoyable, but pretty cliche and a little too unrealistic at points for me.

To say it bluntly, this book was amazing! Nice girl meets sexy, bad to the bone gangster boy = lots of romance and a fantastic read! Honestly, I started this book at 11pm thinking I would just read a few chapters then suddenly it was 6am! (Thank goodness it was a weekend) Where that time went I don’t know but this is a definitely a, ‘I’ll just read one more chapter’ kind of book.

Told through the eyes of both Alex and Brittany, their point of views altered between chapters yet the story flowed smoothly and kept me engaged throughout. I really liked this as it allowed me to immerse myself in both their worlds, letting me understand both their characters and how each was affected by the other.

Complete opposites, Alex is a Mexican (and absolutely gorgeous) gangster from the wrong side of town while Brittany is the rich and seemingly perfect cheerleader… yet beneath the surface their characters are so much more. Forced into the roles society expects of them, they hide behind false smiles while striving to meet the expectations and obligations put on them by family and friends… yet everything changes when their lives collide.

Separated by social and financial status, as well as the racial barriers upheld by their families and peers, Alex and Brittany are brought together through a bet and chance circumstances. Written with the premise that there is always more to a person than meets the eye, the story shows how together, they overcome their prejudices and discover the truth about themselves and each other.

However while I have to admit that the book did have its faults and many cheesy parts with lines that made me giggle, blush and swoon… I loved it all! I really don’t know what it is about this book but I couldn’t put it down and can’t wait to read its sequel ‘Rules of Attraction’.

Also while this is the first book I’ve read by Simone Elkeles she has totally been added to my list of favourite authors! Highly, completely and definitely recommended – it is a must read for all red blooded females! :)

Incredible, Addictive and Real!

This story reminds me of “West side Story” is urban is real…is fascinated!.. it is honestly Perfect! So delight to see issues from all characters not just the main one...I end up loving several characters besides Alex...my “New bad boy romance”..! Is just divine how this book intertwined so many issues in one book!

You are definitely going to fall in love with Alex and all his sacrifices…and realize that the bad boy is actually a pretty good boy trying to break stereotypes, help his family and trying to not loose the love of his life!

Get ready for urban, romance, bad boys vs. pretty bad boys, love and friendship!

Ps: Special mentioned to Paco!
