Another excellent contender for the Cadfael series. An interesting conceit added to this one - a very small timeframe wherein the murder could've taken place, and some interesting intra-abbey politics at play. All the highs and lows of a usual Cadfael book.

Not my favorite of the Brother Cadfael Chronicles so far, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s a good mystery and kept me guessing the whole time. I’m looking forward to more.

You definitely do want to read these books in order. While the stories technically stand on their own and each novel is an independent mystery, there is an overarching story being built upon.

Ha I knew it. I found out the culprit. So the mystery was ok, but I enjoyed the characters and interactions more, then the mystery itself.
