Dog Man is a serial. I get it. I don't know why it needs to tease itself as such at the end of each book (and I also don't understand why they are hardback, as a reader who came of age in an era of intense YA serialization (Babysitters Club, Fear Street, etc.). The story line is a lot of "Dog Man the comic becomes Dog Man the movie", which again is a media trope I could do without in my kid fiction. I liked the monster buildings, it's like an extension of Rampage where the buildings fight back but I think there could have been more there (the reanimated fish got more character development, which ok, it's actually a living thing, but it's a missed opportunity not to do more with what a building monster that was a real estate office would be like).
