I received this book as a giveaway in audio format. Although it was fun to listen to a story, I have discovered I much prefer to read my books myself.
That aside, I enjoyed the story.  It was fun and action packed. I did feel it ended quite abruptly and left me feeling like it was not complete. I'll have to check out the next book to see where this story leads.

Got this in a Storygraph giveaway.

I did mostly enjoy it, but.. how can one person get jumped/attacked so frequently? That's my main issue with the book. Otherwise I liked it and am glad I got to read it.

I won this book in a giveaway. This isn't my normal kind of fantasy, and the cover did it no favours. But it was free and short, so I thought why not?

I ended up enjoying it a lot! It was fun and ridiculous, lots of action and an interesting cast of characters. I kept getting serious Sarah J Maas vibes (excepting the length... Easterling's is much shorter). I zipped through it, and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this somewhat silly and overall very fun werewolf/shifter book.

It's the first book in a werewolf/shifter story about Mai Fairchild and her little sister Kira, two fox shifters who get tangled up in a deadly web rival werewolf gangs. There's a little bit of everything – action, mystery, romance, family dynamics, lore, world-building. There's not much to analyse or discuss, but hell, it's a fun, short book full swashbuckling sword fights, murder mysteries and gang wars. The perfect book to get you out of a reading slump, or just remind you of how much fun reading can be when you pick books you like vs. books people say you should like.

I won this book in a giveaway and appreciated the opportunity to read it.

That said, I really wanted to like this book, but just couldn’t. The plot was all over the place and I felt like I was dropped into season 3 of a 10 series show without any context. Why are the kitsune shifters forbidden? What happened to the parents? Do the humans know about shifters? Are there other kinds of shifters? Why is the city being run by a gang instead of the alpha? Honestly I had no idea what was happening for most of it. Plus by the end of it there was absolutely no resolution. I get that it’s the first in a series, but I would have hoped to have at least some answers.

The book was confusing. Why do fox-shifters have to die? How can it be, that Mai is an incredibly strong person when she is alone and then, as soon as a man arrives, she can't do anything anymore? Even though she is presented stronger then said men. A lot of things were happening for the plot to move along and it felt like the whole plot would fall apart, if the characters would be able to communicate.

Received in a giveaway.
