It is painfully obviously that the similarities between these books and Lara Adrian's books know no bounds.
That being said, I can say I enjoyed this book MORE than Lara Adrian's Breed Series for several reasons.
First, JR Ward does not suffer from the romance writer syndrom which dictates "all leading men must have flawless movie star looks". Ward's male characters are far from perfect, in fact, the leading man in this book is partially blind.
Second, Ward is not afraid to make her male characters terrifying.
These books are much darker than Lara Adrian's books and her plot was more engaging. I can't wait to read the rest of the series

This is my third or fourth read of Dark Lover. I can never get enough of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. I will always recommend this series to anyone and everyone that will listen. I know this first book in the series is a little to a lot cheesy. However, the snark and sass from all the Brothers and the quiet strength of all of the females more than makes up for it.

As the series progresses, the females only get stronger and more interesting. Every time I re-read the series I feel like I pick up something new everytime.

I recommend this series to all romance and fantasy readers. If you haven't tried urban fantasy, this is the series to start with. If you're intimidated by the number of books in the series, don't be. Each book is standalone and you can stop whenever you want.

This was so cringe. Like I can see how 16 year old me would have loved this but y’all I cannot get down with this. The MCs went from 0 to 100 real fucking quick. Like one minute they’re sniffing each other through a screen door and the next they’re fucking and then they’re married. And wtf are those names. I can deal with Wrath, Rhage, Phury, and butch. But tohrment???? ZSADIST???? WHY??? One thing more ridiculous than the names is probably the failed attempt at character development… but will I continue reading? Yes I will

Ok...this book was listed on here under the "Characters I Want To Sleep With" category, so...I thought I should read it. It was good, but it is a romance, so the hard tough characters immediately become soft gooey ones once they admit they are in love, which is annoying to me. But, it was a good vampire book and has lots of good characters. It is a series, so Im looking forward to reading the other books! I would definately recommend this book if you like romance stories and vampire stories!
