Great opportunities for over-the-top voices and sound effects in this one.

An unofficial part of the Dr. Seuss cannon that, unlike his others, actually makes a pretty good read aloud for preschoolers around Dr. Seuss's birthday.

Picked this up for a story telling session for pre schoolers. I like the fact it has lot of scope of "sounds" in the story to keep the kids entertained and engaged.

We checked this book out from the library because my son loves the television show. It’s a great book with nice sounds and teaches onomatopoeia to young children.

The short story is a bit darker than the tv show though. Gerald’s parents are ashamed of him and the kids at school are mean to him. Then at the end, when Gerald’s sounds make the family rich, his parents finally accept him. It’s not pointed out that it’s wrong for his parents to reject him foe who he is, which kind of irked me. Otherwise, this is a fun book and my children asked me to read it a few times.

This is my first review on Goodreads for a kid’s book. I don’t think I will give stars to books I get for my kids, but I think it will be fun to talk about them.

Parents don't seem to want their kid until he becomes rich and famous.
