Couldn’t find the french canadian version of the audiobook on this app but it is the one I read on Audible. I LOVED it. Almost gave up in the beginning because I didn’t understand the narrator was reading newspapers, but I am glad I stuck with it. The story was mysterious and horrific all at once. I really enjoyed it.

This was so engrossing! I found myself listening as often as I could just to find out what happened. There were a few times when the main character was annoyingly repetitively emo and a bit of a stereotypical “cop who doesn’t play by the rules and whose life is really messed up.” It’s frustrating when what he does clearly interferes with the attempts to save the missing kid. But the plot is pretty solid and the tension ramps up pretty steadily to a good ending. Joshua Jackson is a great narrator too; he does a pretty good job of differentiating characters although sometimes it was hard to tell what the main character was saying out loud versus just in his head. I’d definitely read another book by the author especially if it continues as a series.
