Garth Ennis and I have like this super big war with one another. Because, imagine writing Bad Habits but also being the co author of The Boys.

Anyway, I hate it because I love it. The plot comes out of nowhere, a main character like John with Cancer gets you in shock. You think this time it will get him, it would be the tone of the comic but you know, you don’t know what to hope for. Jamie Delano was political but also philosophical and now you’re hid with the dead of a character and his whacky shenanigans that you knew for maybe 2 years when you turned in for monthly comic issues featuring the one and only Hellblazer. You really don’t know what will come next and what to expect from Garth Ennis that’s insane.

The writing is fun, The talks and interactions in the comic are plain but smart. It’s vividly alive for what it is, because it plays around it’s paradoxes painting a really alive picture of a dying person. I appreciate it a lot. Even tho I read it now, it’s still tense you can’t wait for the next chapter like it’s the 90s. It hugs you but also makes you feel bad and all. I would not say it’s John‘s best bit but but it’s a smart comic and for me a 5/5 because something about it just clicks. Giving you closure to a situation you didn’t know will turn out that way.
