DNF’d at 70%. It was interesting at first but then it just kept dragging on and I found myself zoned out for 2 chapters in a row and decided that instead of rewinding it and listening to what I had missed, I needed to take the hint and just move on to a new book.

This book will stay with me for a long time. The way Vanessa describes herself as a teen who ‘can’t do anything right’ and her descriptions of executive dysfunction really stuck with me in leading to her perception of her worth.
Like most young girls, Vanessa was taught to shrink herself, be a people pleaser, and not take time to understand and be confident in what her own interests and wants are. When the predator asks her what she wants to do, she thinks to herself that all she wants to do is whatever will make him happy. ☹️
The abuse she endured, and the level of denial and disassociation that continued into her 30s was heartbreaking to witness.
Overall — I would recommend. Check the trigger warnings first!

This book handled its themes in a way that were so respectful and sympathetic. The characters felt real, the writing was simple yet beautiful, and I keep thinking about it regularly. A great book that I would highly recommended. Please check the trigger warnings though.
