This collection was really hit or miss. The good stories were great, but there were some real clunkers as well. I felt like Mamet should have told some of her friends/authors, "This is a rough first draft, go back and work on this," and for a couple she should just have rejected them altogether. But I'm still glad I read it because some of the stories were so touching and thought-provoking. And others were funny and insightful. I enjoyed this book--and they were all short enough that the clunkers were soon over.

There are some really good essays in this book, and then there are a bunch that seem to just be "I asked my famous friend to be in this book!!" So...skip it.

This was a joy to read. I absolutely loved all the essays and short stories about food and food memories.

This is for the npr crowd. And like more power to those people but that's decidedly not me and I found myself telling many of the story writers to get some real problems 🤷

I was hesitant to read this after checking out reviews but ultimately disagree with many because I found this to be such a charming, at times sad but mostly funny, and sweet gathering of essays.
