A decent collection with one or two of my favorite stories of all time in there which include, "A Christmas Memory" by Truman Capote and "A Visit to the Bank" by Shirley Jackson, along with new favorites like Angela Carter's "Ghost Ships", "Christmas Morning" by Frank O'Connor, and Grace Paley's "The Loudest Voice". Some are funny, some are beautiful, some are sad, and some are not really Christmas-y at all. So overall I say it deserves a 3/5 stars. Not amazing, but not awful. Just meh.

I admit I bought this thinking it would be an uplifting book of stories about the magic of Christmas - while the stories were good, theoretically about Christmas, and a nice sample of a number of great authors, I wouldn’t necessarily call them “Christmassy”
