Samantha Irby is like that one friend that just tells it like it is. She's all of us in a lot of ways: insecure AND cocky, funny AND miserable, hopeful AND done with it all. I love her take on everything and I can always count on equal parts laughter and cringing while I'm reading Irby.
My dream is to use one of her books in a book group, but it would have to be the right one.

I enjoyed this book, but I think my expectations were too high. I was a bit underwhelmed. I love Samantha Irby. I've listened to her on several podcasts and think she's a very funny, smart, entertaining human, but I hadn't read any of her books so I decided to start with her first one. I will definitely read her next two essay collections despite not fully connecting with this one.

Hilariously inappropriate, but also thoughtful and melancholy.

I'm both too sex-repulsed (ace) and easily grossed out by talk about food, so this just wasn't for me.
I'm sure it can be a good and relatable book for others, but it just didn't do much for me.
