I read this book before i read odium and that was a mistake.
This book is 3 short stories about how the main characters in Odium got to be where they are at the beginning of Odium. I didn't really feel connected to the characters or like i knew anything about them so i didn't get very absorbed and assumed the style just wasn't for me.
But i had already bought odium so started reading it and straight away started liking it. I now have that connection to the characters and really wish i'd have read this after Odium so i could have understood it better.
So for me it is best kept as a companion novella. But if you like action more than you like the romance/characters then it would also make a good standalone about different reactions people can have to a zombie breakout.
