Classic Ella Fields problematic and angst filled relationship, I don't like step - siblings trope but first half was good but in other half Jackson was such asshole I thought he change sooner. Way too much back and forward with miscommunication, overall decent read.

i had so much to say about this book but the more i kept on reading the less energy i had to write it down. from the siblings plot that’s just icky ( at first the author kept insisting on them being raised like siblings and them considering one another as such) to how dumb the characters and their actions were... it was hard for me to care about them

For that was what we were doing, speaking a different language. A language that tasted of disaster and sin but felt like promise and perfection.

The queen of angst is back again! Whereas I didn’t feel the angst so much in her last two or three books, you can only imagine how happy I was finally feeling this knot in my stomach again.
Always waiting for the other shoe to drop. Not knowing how things will turn out, breaking my heart over and over again.

We were fire that would never extinguish, and we’d burn anything in our path to keep getting what we wanted. What we needed.

I loved how Ella Fields laid out the story. Following two kids caring for each other, growing up together and discovering their true feelings for each other.
And she perfectly played the age cards. The kids acted as kids, the teenager acted like true teenagers would. Everything was down to earth, nothing fancy and truly believable.

Heartbreak and peril had never tasted so sweet.

Willa and Jackson are such a wonderful couple. Through all their years together they formed a unique bound. They were simply meant to be. But they also had to learn a lot, they had a lot growing up to do.
They both made mistakes, mistakes you make as a kid and a teenager. That’s all part of growing up. So their story feels true and real.

…but there is no one else I’d rather be imperfect with.

The way the story is told and the way it unfolds is spellbinding. Due to Ella’s immense writing skills, she makes you easily fall in love with her characters. She binds your heart to them so that you have no choice but to follow this train of heartbreaks. But it’s so worth it!

We weren’t only soul mates. We were stitched at the seams, unable to part without losing fragments of ourselves.

Hearts and Thorns is another masterpiece by Ella Fields. If you are up for a train ride of broken hearts, this one is for you!

This book and this entire series just made my heart blow up. It was a different kind of pain with each novel. This one made me angry on levels I can't explain while reading fiction. I am a grudge holder and while I know that is not a positive trait, it is what it is.

I can forgive Jackson for being the worlds biggest idiot. I mean take some responsibility for the whole fiasco. I can forgive Willa for being weak because young love can make you whimpering puddle of goo. But, I can't forgive Health and Victoria. Kids are kids and bad decisions are part of growing up, but as parents to so completely dismiss your children, HE!L NO!

This story gutted me. I'm not over it. As my son just said, " mom it's not real." I just gave him the side eye and decided to day drink.

Nope. Nope. Nope. Do you realize the value of love between a brother and a sister? The sanctity of their relationship. No. Of course not. It’s completely ruined here. I don’t care it was a plot device. I don’t care it’s fiction. It’s filthy. You took something pure and stained it.

I’d have understood if their parents got married when they were already teens. They would have been grown up and wouldn’t feel so closely related. But Jackson and Willa? They were practically born together. Parents getting married only when they were a couple months old. They spent their entire childhood as siblings calling the same people mom and dad. Suddenly Willa grew boobs and Jackson can’t look at her? Suddenly they are like ‘oh! We are not related so it’s not bad.’ Seriously? Brothers have sisters growing up all the time but they don’t look at their sisters like that!

I would have accepted this story if they were teens. It would have made so much sense. But nope. So what they’re not related by blood. But growing up together, sharing the same family, doesn’t that account for something?

And I hated Willa. She’s stupid. Just because she saw Jack kissing another girl which he did to throw their parents off, she ran away to this other guy who’s in love with her and slept with him! She didn’t even wait! Not for any kind of explanation or confrontation. I felt bad for Jackson. He genuinely loved her. Even at the end, he was the one who groveled. The writing was good but the plot made me sick.

Please let brothers and sister love each other as they should. Books like this and Forbidden by Tabitha Suzama are rotting the society. Creating a fictional, filthy and a forbidden world just to engage readers. Nope. Books can be still good even when they don’t have there fcking plot devices.

Hearts and Thorns is the third book in the Magnolia Cove series from Ella Fields. This book is a complete standalone, but the characters are interconnected and I honestly recommend reading the previous books as they are amazing and just made me enjoy this one that much more! This cover is so gorgeous, and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the story since I first started this series but it was honestly more than I could have hoped for. I couldn’t put it down, even as it was wrecking me. Luckily, Ella Fields always takes care of us in the end and it was perfection!

Willa and Jackson grew up together from a young age, forming an unbreakable bond that neither expected and yet they knew was forbidden. They were best friends and as they got older it grew into so much more. They were also each other’s destruction and this story was absolutely heartbreaking at times. Ella knows how to write angsty reads like no one else, and this one was on a whole other level for me. I loved Willa and Jackson so much, and my heart broke right along with theirs. I felt so connected to them, and I honestly just kept hoping that things would work out for them because they were meant for one another and had to be together.

The writing is amazing. The characters are impossible not to fall in love with. The story was captivating and I never wanted to stop reading, even while I wanted to make it to the end to see how things would turn out. Ella Fields is an author that I have learned never disappoints and while she will break you down, will also put you back together. I honestly can’t recommend her books enough and I definitely recommend Hearts and Thorns for fans of the Magnolia Cove series or angst lovers in general. This book was fantastic and I can’t wait for more from Ella Fields.

Childish, annoying, and sometimes hard to follow. The writing is super choppy and Willa cries way too much. Threw this one out at page 115.
