I loved this book! It was a beautiful story that gradually peeled back the layers of its characters through adventure, honesty, grief, loss, and eventually, love. Refreshingly different from People We Meet on Vacation, with it's witty and thick-skinned characters. However, whereas PWMOV felt more like a whirring, exciting, adventure that took me away from my daily worries, Book Lovers gets real, and talks about trauma and grief. I love that in a story, it's what makes us human, but you might want to read through content warnings before picking up this book. Overall, really enjoyed this read, and really loved the characters!

This book was the perfect palette cleanser after many horror novels. It was lighthearted, but still down to earth. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice, easy summer read.

I want so badly to be able to rate this book 6/5. Because having rated books as 5 stars in the past, it doesn’t seem like enough for how much I loved this.

WOW i loved this book so much! a perfect mix of beach read and people we meet on vacation, while still completely original. if you love classic hallmark stories you’d love this one! i loved that Charlie was an editor as i will be a newspaper editor starting in september :) also LOVE that one of the main characters is named Libby as that’s my dog’s name 🥰

not to put anyone off this book but i really didn’t like it. i haven’t liked any romance novels, i really hate the tropes abs the dialogue and the characters.
The only thing I liked about this book was how neither of them wanted kids, the names of the stores in town, and how the writing was good. But some of the major plot points were so random like;
Why is Charlie’s mum so insistent that only family can run the bookstore? That’s just stupid. Literally could have avoided the whole book if she wasn’t stupid. Charlie’s character also felt like it had no depth. I couldn’t see any spark between the characters and I didn’t care for them whatsoever,, it made me cringe rather than cry when they decided to break up rather than go long distance. And breaking up would’ve been a better end to the story because coming back together didn’t make any sense. anyways.
.
i guess romance is just not for me !
