I enjoyed it but man I hate miscommunication, it just never ends.  But it was cool watching Felicity and Silus heal. I also loved Paxon he was a real sweetie.

I’d be her friend and then press for more. Because now that she was back in Montana, I wasn’t letting her go. I’d play it slow and steady. Put in the time. But one day she’d be mine. Just like she was always meant to be.

I had spent far too long learning to guard my heart. I was a master at pretending I was fine on my own. I was famous for striking back with attitude whenever I felt pain. And I had become an expert at leaving others before they could leave me.

🧡 First person dual POV
🧡 Third in a series that can be read as stand alone
🧡 Second chance
🧡 Brother’s best friend / ex’s best friend
🧡 He falls first
🧡 Mutual pining
🧡 Protective MC
🧡 Small town vibes
🧡 Sixteen years ago the love of Silas’ life ran away from him — and their town — as soon as he declared his feelings. Felicity’s ex boyfriend passed and she knows it’s time to stop running and make amends with the people she left behind. Can they risk a second chance when neither knows the other’s feelings?
🧡 Well established secondary characters: Gigi & Jess (Book 1), Nick & Emmeline (Book 2), Sabrina, Beau (Book 4), Maisy (Book 5).
🧡 MC growth: Family expectations, trust, forgiveness, guilt, communication, self worth, career aspirations.
🧡 Epilogue

⚠️ Drug use/abuse (past, secondary character), death (past, recounted), blood (minor), medical trauma (moderate), violence (moderate), domestic abuse (moderate, secondary character), dementia (moderate), pregnancy, injury/injury detail (moderate), sexual assault (mentioned briefly), parental abandonment (past).

I have been wanting to read this series for a while and my sister gifted the first book my birthday this year. I still hate Jess, but I was determined to carry on with the series, the second book redeemed it, and I was excited to see Felicity and Silas’s story.

This book has two points of view. The first is Felicity. Her life story reads like the script to a bad soap opera. Girl's high school boyfriend becomes a drug addict. Girl falls for boyfriend’s best friend. Girl leaves them both behind only to return home years later for murdered ex-boyfriend's funeral. Now she’s back home in Montana, ready to make amends and to start fresh. She’s got a long list of amends to make and relationships to rebuild, including the man who has owned her heart for the last sixteen years. The second point of view is Silas. He doesn’t need much. He's got a great horse, close friends and his Lucky Heart ranch, but something has always been missing. He's not an idiot and knows the missing piece is Felicity. Now she has returned to Prescott, he has got a second chance to win her heart. This time, the only thing standing between them is history. Drudging up the past is going to be painful as playing tug of war with barbed wire, but if they can heal old wounds, he’ll get the girl he should have had all along.

The more than the series goes on, the more I am loving this town and these characters. Silas is so overprotective but then also such a golden retriever, like perfect. I love him and how he stood up for Felicity to everyone else but then is also pushing Felicity to be the girl he knows she is. Felicity was such a tough cookie and I'm so glad she got her redemption arc, and she went above and beyond for the people in that town and yet she was still doubting herself. Both of these MCs have trauma and I'm so glad they managed to move on from the trauma together and individually. The amount of action in this book stressed me out but I loved it, and I cannot to see how Beau’s gets on in the outpost.

I didn’t rate it five stars because even though I liked the action, I felt like it was just one after the other and very sudden and felt like this was a filler book at times to build up for the next books.

I am very excited to read the outpost, I feel like there is going to be a lot of one-bed enemies-to-lovers tension and I cannot wait.

Plenty of sweet and emotional moments, though not as tense and angsty as some other Devney Perry books. Maybe a little too long too? Looking forward to filling in those Sabrina and Beau's story next
