I went into this with the lowest expectations, and it was okay. The steampunk elements with werewolves and vampires kind of felt like it was doing too much, but I also haven’t and don’t plan on reading the other books in this series. I like slow burn, but it was like the MC was outwardly saying “I’m only into women” and the love interest would say “no, you’re not. You’re only making advances towards me because you feel like it’s the only way you can repay me” (paraphrasing). I feel like I didn’t get a good grasp on any of the characters, but it could just be because it’s a novella. There’s some lesbian spice as well.

Genevieve is one of my favorite of Carriger’s characters, and Imogene is endearing. The plot is a bit weak, but the point of the story is far more the characters.
