Less of a horror novel than Labatut's previous book, but arguably more frightening in its implications for our future.

This book isn't really a book I would normally read but it wasn't bad. Its a book that makes me want to know more but I also found myself confused and getting a headache from all the sciences and mathematics being discussed. I think someone who has previously learned about these people or understands the projects that they worked on would more thoroughly enjoy this book.

it grabbed my attention more than 99.9% of things i have read, academically or otherwise. it touched on so many thought-provoking topics, but also allowed to look at scientific progress and technology from a perspective that isn't often explored in day to day life (not even when coming into direct contact with these very discoveries for education). the writing was phenomenal, too. not even youtube could compete with the enjoyment i got from this book.
reminded me of the movie Oppenheimer (even before that) and loved the "documentary" vibes.

The book was able to really captivate me and it was difficult to put down. The approach to tell the story of someones life only through many different outside perspectives was interesting.

The last part was really boring tho. The story about AlphaGo took all the momentum out of the story. It was also just really uninteresting. I have read the other book of the author as well and all the stories are shorter, so this couldn't have been the problem, why this part was so uninspired.

BUT definitely this shouldn't stop you from picking up this otherwise fantastic book.
