The men (and some women) described in this book were almost universally considered the greatest minds of their time, their contributions to humanity invaluable. And yet those that are still alive are full of regret, and those that aren't left mixed legacies at best. Genius is terrifying.
Now it does feel like it's too late to stop *spoilers redacted.* Silicon Valley execs would get a lot out of this novel if any of them put down "Atomic Habits" or whatever those "people" read.

I had heard this was not on the level of Labatut's other work translated into English (When We Cease to Understand the World) and that may be true, but the more traditional narrative structure of this one as well as the slightly more obscure subjects of study for some reason clicked with me a bit more and I enjoyed this one immensely. I am incredibly keen on following Labatut's future work and I can foresee rereading both of these books sooner rather than later, which is rare for me.
