about half way through this book, i was growing tired of the plot and the main character. i don't really identify with unfeeling men who chase power and absolute control through science and AI so i was getting annoyed. however, once i got to the final section of the book, i couldn't put it down. kind of weirdly placed and a different tone/narrator from the rest of the book, but it was super fascinating and will stick with me for a while. going to go watch the alphago doc next.

Unsettlingly. As before Labatut plants a seed. This time something from Johnny van Neumann's mind which tunnels its way into AI - a terrible force.
