I honestly don’t know how to accurately describe my feelings about this book. I was entranced every single page. Johnny and his constant protection and care for Shannon will never be topped. I actually had to take so many breaks and re read his lines I was so flustered (don’t know why i’m admitting that). This book was perfect. Actually. Maybe I could have gone without Shannon being “so small” she was unable to get up on a barstool??? But i’ll forgive and forget that part. Johnny’s feelings for Shannon were intense but never felt unrealistic. Every scene he came through when needed and it had me SCREAMING. This book was about teenagers in high school, but played with such heavy topics so i never felt like I was reading about too young of characters. I love romance books with a deeper emotional topic like abuse or mental issues. I know for a fact this will be a consistent re-read for me. I promise I am not that easy to please with books, something about this one just hit me so hard. Now excuse me while I instantly go read Keeping 13 and obsessively thinking about this book and Johnny for the next few months.

I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this book. I was a little worried I wouldn’t enjoy it with it being teenagers and set in a school. However I was pleasantly surprise! I ended up really enjoying the story and the character. It definitely has mature themes and some hard to read moments. I couldn’t put this one down once I started!

They weren’t lying when they said the book needs to be longer. OMG that was so good.

I finally got to start this series!

It’s been a long time coming. The banter in this book is top tier. Not just with the two main characters but all the side characters as well.

Johnny and Shannon are so flipping cute. I love their dynamic and I’m really rooting for them. The hospital scene is gold!

My biggest problem with the book is that Johnny keeps using Shannon’s age as an excuse not to be with her and it’s so far fetched. Like idk if it’s a cultural thing that im missing but 15/16 year olds date 17/18 year olds all the time. That’s not a crazy thing. It’s also ridiculous how many times it’s brought up like okay we get it. I also find it hard to believe that no one picked up on Shannon’s home situation and that it took a black eye for her to realize that she should start covering it up with make up. Like if I was getting abused like that on a regular basis and didn’t want people finding out that would be the first thing I learned how to do.
