As an avid reader of true-crime I was under the impression that no-one could fuck up a regurgitation of facts - I was wrong.

This book was awful, and in complete contrast to what it suggests in the title, you do not get 'up close and personal with Britain's most dangerous criminals'.

Don't even get me started on how terribly it was written, I don't think I have ever read a book so badly written in my life, how was this allowed to be published?

Do not recommend at all, especially if you are a regular reader of true-crime, you will be disappointed.

I watched a documentary on Broadmoor years ago, so I thought I'd read about it this time. This was an easy-to-read, fast-paced book giving insight into one of the world's most high-security prisons for the criminally insane. It wasn't as in-depth as I'd have liked it to be, but I think the documentary covered more. I think, next, I'd like to explore the history surrounding Broadmoor, which is sure to be devastating given history's bad reputation when it comes to 'asylums'.
