Reading lots of poetry for April. The drawings verge on caricature. The poems themselves are successful in two ways: either because you like the original, and smile at the "adaptation," or because the new words succeed all on their own. Kids young enough to enjoy the silliness of "Because I Could Not Stop My Bike" are unlikely to be familiar with the Dickinson original, much less "To His Coy Mistress" or "Annabel Lee," but the grownups will certainly smile.
