This book felt messy, but in a good way? It had a lot of different elements to it and I appreciate how unapologetic it was in certain aspects.

4.5 stars -
I found this book engaging and compelling, though I adjusted my rating to 4 stars for several reasons. Firstly, I hoped for a more immediate and intense romantic connection between the characters. Secondly, I felt the dramatic tension could have been heightened with more widespread rumors earlier in the narrative. Thirdly, the breakup in the third act felt somewhat contrived, though I appreciated the resolution of the characters' friendship. Fourthly, the exploration of parental issues felt somewhat clichéd and reminiscent of certain fanfiction tropes. Finally, the lengthy chapters could have been broken up for better pacing. Overall, I rate this book at 4.5 stars, with particular admiration for its cinematic style and the satisfying circularity of its ending.

I'm in love *.* I don't have time to write a proper review because midterms but yeah

I'm giving this 3.5 stars. It was good. The story was creative. The writing made me want to hang myself.

In the about the author section is says something about Leah Reader writing being "pretentiously lyrical." Don't get my wrong, I studied my GRE words and use them as often as any preschool teacher can, but holy Jesus, chill the eff out.

This was like watching the first and last 15 minutes of Requiem for a Dream on a loop while reading a Nicholas Sparks novel (I was thinking A Walk To Remember.. The Notebook was too obvious of a choice) on a red-eye flight to your great aunt's funeral. Did I mention there were screaming babies with colic and a gassy isle mate on this flight?

Maise has topped my list of most hated characters. I kept hoping she would get hit by a car and Wesley would take over the story. Maybe I just really wanted Wesley to get some, and not by a hussy named Maise.
Evan/Eric was creepy. Like, totally Hannibal creepy.
I wanted to be happy at the end, but I really just wanted to throw my Kindle at the wall.

Yeah.. So.. Sensory overload.

emotional reflective tense fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

After reading, I just feel creeped out, worn out, and voyueristic, which is maybe the point?

3.5 stars

What I like the most about this book is Maise as a character, she is very strong and independent. She knows what she wants and goes for it no matter what stands in her way. She's fall in love but that does not stop her from following the other she has set out for herself. She has many problems in her life but they don't cause her to stray away from her path. She's an equal in the relationship, many of the books that contain strong female character always say they are strong and they are but they are also dependent on their other half. I am not saying that it's not okay to depend on someone but you need to learn to depend on yourself when others are not there.

The story is pretty okay for me but its Maise strong independence is what let me reading. I am pretty sure their are thousands of books that evolved around teacher and student falling in love but this one is pretty honest since they both want each other and not afraid to hide it. The teacher doesn't keep on complaining on how wrong it is. It is wrong but like most of those forbidden books keep on mentioning on how wrong it is. It's get repetitive and annoying. This book doesn't do that. The characters are very realistic and I live that Maise won't let love get in the way of what she wants because she's just starting her life and she shouldn't hold back just for a guy.

I'm fairly sure nothing else I read in the "New Adult" category will beat this one. It's a perfect example of what New Adult fiction can be, and should be.

falling apart and back together and repeat
Screwedup lives and screwedup situations

I loved the drama! But I wish Wesley had his own happy ending.
