“ your aunt and uncle will be proud , though , won’t they ? “
said hermione . “ when they hear what you did this year ? “

“ proud ? are you crazy ? all those times i could’ve died , and i didn’t manage it ? they’ll be furious . . . “
(p. 306)

uuuugh i wanna give this book five stars but i just can’t . it really
deserves some high-four praise though for the amazing tom riddle lord voldemort reveal , lockheart’s general lockheartedness , and malfoy trying to set the weasley’s up “ for politics “ ( definitely not for lord voldebutt noOoo ) .

i’m kinda happy lockheart’s comeuppance was humorous . while he is certainly
detritus-adjacent for almost letting a girl die — twice ! — it’s nice that the good guys ™️ don’t cause him harm . it keeps the binary of the evil alive , which i really enjoy .

i gasped audibly at least four times during this book . as always , these books are so well-written in their ability to transport you to such a thoroughly loved landscape . it’s hard to put it down once you’ve stopped : Harry Potter and the Chamber of Pringles .

my hesitance to give a five comes from a bit of regurgitated story-telling from the beginning ( in that this book can be read standalone , which wasn’t enjoyable for my experience ) , a slightly trudgier pace ( which some probably would’ve still been five stars ) , and most notably the weird villainy of the dursleys . like , in this book , they basically attempt to murder him . not even neglect , just like , murder murder . it’s extremely
odd . in a way i hope it resolves to something poignant in the story ,
otherwise the third attempted murder of harry potter by his adopted family is a bit of a stretch .

call me a traditionalist , but murdering your nephew seems a stretch .

Un poco sin más. Continuación del primero, a secas.

Buddy reread with Amrita Goswami!

This book was a major event in my life, not only because of the fact that my sister and I read our paperback copy ragged, but also because of the PC game which came out and soaked up hours of our time.

The book is fantastic. It's a joy to see the characters grow and interact. I
One slight issue I had with this during the reread was the offhand way in which squibs were mentioned.

Lockhart and his interactions, especially with the staff are hilarious. The book is surprisingly dense in terms of plot points given its length, but the pacing never seems accelerated.

It's nice to have a book aimed at children which actually seems to allocate time to coursework and discussions about coursework. In particular, the choosing of third year subjects made a nice touch.

It was also great to have the politics of the ghost host brought up, along with the politics of the Wizarding world in general.
I'm really glad I embarked on the buddy reread!

Le doy la misma nota que al primero, aunque me ha gustado más, pero no tanto como para ponerle 4 ⭐.
El misterio me ha enganchado mucho y no he visto venir el giro final.
