Girl, Woman, Other has been on my TBR for so long and I am kicking myself for not picking it up sooner! Twelve absolutely beautiful short stories delicately woven together. This story is packed with family morals, diverse friendships, dramatic narrative arcs, and love! My only difficulty was the unusual structure with no punctuation making the reading a challenge initially, but I would recommend with a passion once I was over that hurdle.

Found the chapter structures a little weird at times. Not sure if this was due to it being an audiobook but it felt like it cut off at awkward points/chapters abruptly ended. Felt most of the stories wrapped up pretty well but there were a couple of stragglers, namely LaTisha and winsome who were kinda missed in the ending. Overall an engaging read and some really interesting stories. The only really weak one for me was Yazz's story but the rest were fab.

This book was incredible. I love the authors writing style, read almost like poetry at points. I was hooked and loved how each story had some link to another, intertwining these women in small ways.

This story is so smart. Incredible.

I cried a few times throughout and would recommend reading trigger warnings however. It's pretty intense in parts.

The stories in this book are captivating, and Evaristo’s writing style is unlike anything I’ve ever read. I was intimidated by the poetic style at first, but the language in this book flows so easily and beautifully. In each chapter, Evaristo explores the background and internal thoughts of a new character and achieves a depth to each story that’s truly impressive. Seeing the ways in which these characters’ stories are woven together, whether through familial history, friendships, relationships or simply proximity, was amazing, and it was fascinating to see how Evaristo explored so many facets of identity and society throughout. This is a book to savor.

Wow. Just - wow. This book was phenomenal. A series of character sketches of (mainly British Black femme) characters across a diverse range of ages and ideologies that weave in and out of each other's lives. Exploration of racism, colorism, immigrant issues, LGBTQIA issues, feminism in its many forms, love, relationships, inequitable educations - so much in here to unpack. I suspect I'll find myself coming back to it in the future. Bernadine Evaristo displayed an amazing ability to really get into the skin of her characters, many of whom have exceedingly disparate experiences, and do so flawlessly. This was an amazing book.
