I liked the story of Wren and Briar. The story moved along with romance at the forefront. Wren was a strong Scotsman who felt it was sworn duty to protect Briar from Percy. The story is a page turner. I thought that story does have its moments of surprises from the characters, but other moments that book feels somber. The story is an interesting read.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Very cute story. I enjoyed the style of writing and the plot, as speedy as it was. Things happened a little too fast for me to give a higher rating but I enjoyed it either way.

I got this book for free during a Stuff Your Kindle event, so I was a little apprehensive off-the-bat because the quality of these books are often lackluster.

Lady Briar Weds the Scot was not lackluster at all.

From the initial character introductions, to the adventure, to the intimacy building, everything was well-written and wonderfully fun to read. The development of the characters, particularly Percy, meant that you were rooting for everyone, and the beautiful descriptions of the lands and scenes were immersive.

My one complaint is that Loghain was a little too on-the-nose villainous, but I could look past it.

An astounding first book for Fenna Edgewood’s new series! I loved this book to distraction: it may well be the best book of her out of those I read. It’s also her first book with a Scottish hero and a Scottish setting and I think she nailed it! The descriptions are beautiful and evocative and the characters she created are plausible, vivid and complex (even the less lovable ones!). And of course who doesn’t love a big, protective and sweet Highlander? And Wren is all of that and more! But Briar! What an endearing character she is! Witty, bold, smart, refreshingly young and slightly naïve without being irritating. I enjoyed the love story and the small amount of suspense and mystery and I even cried a bit at the end for a beloved character (but I won’t spoiler anything, you’ll have to read the book!).
I also recommend the prequel novella in the Naughty and Nice anthology, in which another Blakeley sister and the brother of this book’s hero find their HEA.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This story got me with its premise that a lady married her gardener and while that wasn’t exactly all there was to it, I still loved every page of it! It’s a fun, fast paced adventure to Scotland, and the couple marries on the way there. I have a little bit of an issue with road-trip stories usually because we spend so much time moving from place to place, authors tend to lose sight of the character development or the couple’s relationship but this story was really refreshing in that the actual trip didn’t take over the story. I mean, if you need a better testament to how well the author created and grew the characters, I will tell you that the character I despised on page 1 had me sobbing at the end.

This was the first book I've read by Fenna Edgewood, and it won't be the last. The hero and heroine in this book were both engaging and likable, but I found the secondary characters to be equally so. If you like a bit of adventure and/or danger in your historical romances, definitely check this book out. I found it to be quite the page-turner.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Sometimes it’s hard to see what’s right in front of you. It might take a kidnapping, misperceptions of marriage, and forced proximity to make two people realize they’re meant for one another. Lady Briar Weds the Scot is a charming tale of two people who stumble into love when circumstances move them beyond their societal standings and their assumptions of one another.

The title gives away the crux of the plot: Wren and Briar must wed when Wren’s kidnappers assume she’s his wife (they are riding in a closed carriage, after all). But those kidnappers also bring along Briar’s spurned suitor, they turn out to be not just kidnappers but double-crossers of Wren’s double-crossing relative, and they’re actually returning Wren to a legacy he didn’t realize he had. Talk about a fair amount to unpack!

I liked both Briar and Wren, though Briar’s assumptions of the best of everyone made her at times seem very young and naïve to me. Then she’d have a moment of great wisdom and insight. So I wasn’t quite sure what to make of her. Wren has the opposite problem—he doesn’t tell Briar enough about what they’re facing, and that leads to some unexpected difficulties when they finally reach their Scottish destination. The cast of secondary characters features some stereotypes but also some nicely rounded and surprising characterizations. And I did wish for more of a sense of closure with Wren’s family.

But charm can go a long way, and the amount of charm Edgewood invests Lady Briar Weds the Scot with is plenty to make for an enjoyable romance read.

Ohhh I loved this one. Set in the early 1800s, Lady Briar Weds the Scot provides not only (tons of) amazing emotional spice
